How do you start communicating science? How do you find your own style and overcome the uncertainty of sharing your research with different audiences?

We invite you to the first meeting of our new Science Communication Meetup series, which brings together PhD students, researchers, and anyone interested in science communication at the university.

The theme of the first meeting, “Finding Your Voice,” focuses on inspiration, sharing experiences, and motivation to get started. We won’t be discussing advanced techniques or theoretical models—the goal is to show that science communication is accessible to everyone and that there are many ways to do it well and authentically.

Speakers:

Sebastian Garcia, Ph.D. - Cybersecurity researcher, Head of the Stratosphere Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering
Anna Krebsová - Bachelor student at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Ambassador of the Czech Journey to Space
Martin Krutský and Jakub Peleška - Ph.D. students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, co-founders of the Responsible AI Initiative
Sara Polak - Tech archaeologist and research associate at Oxford and the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics

Karolína Pštross, Coordinator of Science Communication at the CTU

What to expect:

short inspirational talks by speakers,
personal experiences with science popularization, media, and academic communication,
time for questions after each presentation,
informal networking with colleagues across disciplines.

The evening will also include an interactive session to gather topics that interest you—help us shape future activities in the field of science communication.

This meeting is the first step toward building a community around science communication at the university and builds on a broader vision of supporting this field.
